Inspectors' Qualifications

Michael K. A. Gurtler is the founder and President of Gurtler Bros. Consultants, Inc., and enjoys over 30 years of experience in the inspection and constuction business. Mr. Gurtler earned a bachelor's degree in civil engineering in 1978 from Tulane University. Mr. Gurtler presently holds Louisiana Licenses as a Home Inspector (License No. 10086) and as a General Contractor (License No. 30228). He also is a certified member of the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI Certification No. 102355) and is certified Level I Thermographer. Mr. Gurtler has engaged in numerous investigations in connection with insurance-related issues in the wake of Hurricane Katrina and has been recognized as an expert witness in Louisiana on a variety of construction-related issues.

Friedrich (Fritz) W. L. Gurtler, P.E., is Vice-President of Gurtler Bros. Consultants, Inc.. He holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, earned in 1976 from Tulane University, and has worked in the engineering and inspection industry since that time. Mr. Gurtler is licensed as a Professional Civil Engineer by the state of Louisiana (License No. 25374). Mr. Gurtler is also a licensed Louisiana Home Inspector (License No. 10085) and is a Certified Infield Trainer for the Louisiana State Board of Home Inspectors. Mr. Gurtler has inspected over 7,000 residences and commercial facilities and is actively engaged in structural design work.


William M. Feaheny, Jr, Senior Environmental Scientist, holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Microbiology and a Masters of Science Degree in Environmental Science from Louisiana State University. Mr. Feaheny’s areas of experience include indoor air quality assessments, environmental testing and analysis, environmental property assessments (Phase I, II & III), compliance audits, environmental permitting, environmental remediation, project management and oversight. He also has been recognized as an expert witness in Louisiana and has provided expert witness testimony on environmental issues on numerous occasions.


Ashley van der Meulen, is a licensed Louisiana State Home Inspector (License
No. 10230), an Exterior Design Institute Certified EIFS Inspector (Certification No. LA19) and a Level II Certified Thermographer with Snell Infrared. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Franklin University where he graduated Cum Laude. Mr. van der Meulen has performed over 2,000 residential and commercial inspections and is engaged in moisture investigations on a regular basis.


Kirk Moyer, is a licensed Louisiana State Home Inspector(#10365) and has been with Gurtler Bros. for four years and has preformed over 600 inspections with us. Mr. Moyer is an American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI) certified home inspector(#245431)and has prior experience in the termite industry.


Augustus Gurtler, is a certified Home Efficiency Ratings System(HERS) rater (#023) and is a Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET) Member. Mr Gurtler also has experience in the mold remediation industry.

Mit Miller, is a licensed Louisiana State Home Inspector(10592). Mr. Miller is also FHA-HUD 203(K) approved consultant (#DO855).

David O’Reilly, is currently a Doctorial Candidate in Civil Engineering at Tulane University. He obtained his Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of New Orleans in 2005. Mr. O’Reilly’s area of expertise is Geotechnical Engineering, with three years in a supervisory position at Ardaman & Associates. During this time he determined and performed all relevant laboratory experiments to extract appropriate geotechnical data, determined estimates of settlement, pile capacity, slope stability, sheet pile embedment depth, and general foundation design recommendations. He has also Performed Pile Integrity Tests and Pile Driving Analysis.

Scott Statham, is a licenced Louisiana State Home Inspector(######). Mr. Statham is also holds a certifications in Estimatics, Wind/Hail, Flood Loss and is profficent in Exactamate.
