Energy Ratings
We offer specialized services for builders who are looking to construct
ENERGYSTAR®
certified homes. Our services begin in the planning stages and carry through
to the completion of the home. Whether you build a custom home or a standard
builder’s model, the value of the home is increased by receiving ENERGYSTAR®
certification.
Our services ensure that when built under the guidelines we provide to
you, the home will be ENERGYSTAR®
compliant - the air and thermal barriers will be continuous and the components
of the building will be installed to the manufacturer's specifications.
The benefits to you reach far beyond the high efficiency standards of
ENERGYSTAR®.
Following our guidelines in the construction of the home, you may qualify
for a $2000 dollar federal tax credit per home built.
The rating provided to you upon completion of the home is honored by lenders
as certification that the home qualifies for a special energy efficient
mortgage, making the home more marketable and increasing the number of buyers
qualified to purchase the home.
Better construction and energy efficiency offers more comfort, more durability,
and less call backs for you.
Below is a broad outline of the services we offer in the construction
of new ENERGYSTAR®
homes.
The Planning Phase:
Plan analysis - recommend suitable construction materials, mechanical
systems, insulation levels Projected rating - give the house a theoretical
rating based on the plans. This gives us the option that if the house
doesn't meet ENERGYSTAR®
requirements, we can easily find cost effective improvements to make the
house meet the requirements.
Construction Phase:
Prior to exterior wall insulation - we will ensure that there is
an effective air barrier between the conditioned space and ambient conditions.
After drywall, before attic insulation - establish
an effective air barrier between conditioned space and attic conditions.
Supervise the installation of convective breaks and sealing of all the accessible
ductwork.
Final Phase:
Exit rating - We will perform a blower door test, a duct
blaster test, a visual inspection of building components and provide a report
confirming the rating of your new construction.
