Geotechnical Engineering

Subsurface soil investigations are an often overlooked but very important step in building a new home. Particularly in Louisiana, where we have inconsistent soil density and permeability.

Soil investigations can tell us a lot about how a foundation should be constructed. Some areas can be built on a normal slab; however others, due to erosion, may require pilings up to 50 feet in length. The only way to know for sure is to test the soil below the surface prior to construction.

Gurtler Bros. is the only engineering firm in the area that offers Geotechnical Engineering with an emphasis on the residential market. We have the capacity to do soil borings and piling analysis. All testing and analysis is done in house to ensure quality, punctuality, and affordability. On staff we have a licensed Civil Engineer and a Geotechnical Engineer.
